Images from the August 16th Game

On August 16th in celebration of Fitz's birthday a number of us got together at the Source Comics and Games for a large game of Napoleonics using our Wilderness Wars variant called Napoleonic Commander.

The game took place on two tables, the upper table saw Austrians vs. French while the lower table saw Russians vs. French. The tables were in theory two different locations of the same battle during the 1813 Campaign in Germany.

The below pictures were taken by Jim Fitzgearld and are published with his permission. Now if I can just convince Jim not to cut off everyone's head in ALL the pictures.

Keith's Bavarians

Tom Zwirn setting up my French Brigades and the detachment of the Confederation of the Rhine Troops.

Tom inspecting his position.

Jim's blurry Russians

Jim's not so blurry Russians on the other flank.

Keith inspecting the line.

What Keith saw.

Unseen by the Russians a block of Violence's Bavarian Cavalry stormed the board and began moving agains the Russians.

The Russians infantry begin moving forward agains the Bavarian Position.

A look at the Russians advance on the right flank.

Down the line of battle. Nice clean lines.

Final disposition of the troops when the game was called. The Bavarians had been soundly beaten and the french were working feverishly to move into a defensable position.

A Great Time was had by All

I would like to thank everyone who showed up for today’s game, a great time was had by all. Look for the pictures posted to the Yahoo Group by Jeff Knudson in the near future.

As you all know these rules are a work in progress and Jim and I will be working on some modifications/streamlining so if you have any suggestions please let us know.
· Interaction of Cavalry vs. Infantry in Combat
· Square Modifiers
· Discussion on effectiveness of Artillery
· A couple of missing modifiers
Anything else?

We are already planning our next game, does September 20th work for everyone?

I have been asked what would be good to paint for the period, that answer is pretty simple. Paint what you want to play.

Additionally on Saturday November 22 I have rented some space in Hastings, at the Levee Café, and will be running a game, we are not exactly sure what game yet, either 25mm AWI, 25mm Napoleonics, or 15mm Napoleonics. If you are interested in attending let me know, there will be no cost to attend.

August 16th

For Jim's (AKA Fitz) birthday he wants to do a 25mm Napoleonic game. As we haven't really chosen a set of rules for the period we are using a "Wilderness Wars" variant for the game.

I think this will be by default the selected set of rules for the period.

Letter to Centurions

Here is a letter I sent to the Centurions Mailing List.

Hey Gang,

This is a reminder for Fitz’s birthday game at the Source Comics and Games on August 16th. We will be playing a “Wilderness Wars” variant for the Napoleonic Period using 25mm figures.

For this game any figures from any campaign or front of the Napoleonic Wars is totally acceptable for us. We have multiple goals for this session, we would like to see how many figures are currently painted, the basing used and to see which periods and/or campaigns people are interested in. So if you have Revolutionary War Austrians, French from the 1806 campaign, Austrians from 1809, Americans from the War of 1812, Russian Cossacks, Ottoman Turks, or anything else related to the period bring it to the game on the 16th.

I do ask that if you know that you are going to be bringing troops to please send me an email. I will be working on rosters and painting up figures for whichever side “appears” to be short troops over the next couple weeks.

I already have heard from several of you but if you would send me an updated list that is pretty close to what you have it would be greatly appreciated.
Fitz: British and Russian (need counts)
Joel: 1809 Austrians and French (An updated list would be great)
Me: Austrian, French and French Allied
Keith: A French Brigade (Any additional figures?)
Possibly - Tom Z. French and Russian. (Going to make an appearance?)
Rumored – Kevin MacDonald (Any truth to those rumors?)

Additionally during the day Fitz and I would like to discuss the possibility of some scenario specific battles starting with the Campaign of 1809 including Wagram in 25mm; of course rules would need to be determined.
